HPSS at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center Computer Reconstruction of a
"Golden Event" in the BaBar Detector
Fundamental differences between matter and antimatter are being discovered at SLAC with the BaBar detector. HPSS is being used to store huge amounts of data collected by BaBar.
HPSS is an integral part of the Disk Cache Management at SLAC. Large object files are stored in HPSS for staging and migrating to the physics analysis servers.
Up to 2 TeraBytes of data per day are
being stored into HPSS.
These discoveries at SLAC are helping to explain a fundamental question of the universe:
Why is there an abundance
of matter versus antimatter?
