On-Line Documentations
The following documents are meant for HPSS system administrators.
PDF and HTML versions are available and current as of HPSS 6.2 (July 2008).
HPSS Installation & Management Guides - As of HPSS Release 4.2,
the HPSS System Administration Guide has been split into the
HPSS Installation Guide and the HPSS Management Guide.
- HPSS Installation Guide - Covers the initial planning, installation,
and configuration of an HPSS system.
- HPSS Management Guide - Deals with maintenance and troubleshooting
of an existing HPSS installation.
HPSS System Administration Guide - This manual has detailed information on
every aspect of HPSS, from configuration
planning to troubleshooting. It is the most
critical piece of documentation that an HPSS
administrator will have, and it is important
to keep a current copy.
HPSS SSM Guide - For HPSS Release 5.1, the HPSS SSM Guide
provides quick reference for each window a user may encounter while using
the HPSS Storage System Manager Graphical User Interface (HPSS SSM GUI).
HPSS Error Messages Reference Manual - This manual lists all log messages
generated by HPSS servers along with a description of the message, any action
HPSS will take, and any action the administrator should take. It also lists
the HPSS source files that may generate the message. Obviously, this manual
is useful when troubleshooting HPSS problems.
HPSS GridFTP Administration Guide - This reference link provides detailed information on prerequisites, download url, and procedures to install, run, and configure Globus GridFTP server for HPSS 6.2. The guide also provides a list of known issues and further references.
